Teacher Class Pack - 10 Piece
Metamorphic Rock Specimens
Mitchell County, North Carolina
Specifications: Each of these 10 pieces will have at least one side that measures 3/4" in length, and an overall size estimate of 3/4” x 1/2" x 1/4”. The 10 specimens are packed together in a durable ziplock plastic bag, that has one label with the name of the material and the location in which it was found.
Specific Description: Amphibolite is a metamorphic rock composed mostly of an amphibole mineral (usually hornblende) and plagioclase feldspar. Due to the constituent minerals' colors and size, this amphibolite has a highly distinctive "salt and pepper" appearance.
Photography: The pictures are representative of the quality and general size of the 10 pieces of material you will receive. The pieces pictured are not the actual ones that you will receive, but are from the same rock and mineral stock (outcrop or formation) your order will be filled from. Additionally, while taking the representative pictures, a diligent effort was made to capture the material in both direct sunlight and shade.
