Glass Scratch Plate 


Scratch Plates are used to help identify the hardness of a rock or mineral specimen.

 

This is a thick tile to protect against breaking. 

It also has safety ground edges to prevent injury.

Measures: 1" x 1"

 

Hardness testing with a glass plate: 

To perform a simple mineral test simply scratch your mineral across the glass plate.

If the mineral scratches the plate, it is harder than 5.5 on Mohs hardness scale.
