You will receive the geode that is displayed in the pictures. It is approximately 4" - 4.5" in size and has not been opened.
When I buy these Las Choyas geodes, which are sometimes referred to as "Coconut geodes", the mine owner's guarentee is that 95% of them are guaranteed to be hollow. For many years, I have cracked these geodes for customers at Rock, Mineral and Jewelry shows. During that time, I have cracked over a thousand of these geodes and have NEVER had a solid one from them!
Each geode is unique, although the following are typical characteristics. Quartz and calcite are the two primary minerals that occur in well-developed crystalline form inside of the Las Choyas geodes. These crystals have a variety of forms, especially the calcite which sometimes occurs in "angel wing" and "pagota" formations. The crystals also have a variety of colors, primarily the quartz, which occurs with clear, purple (amethyst) and white coloration. Also, in my experience, from cracking over a thousand of these Las Choyas geodes, roughly 30% have amethyst (purple quartz) in them. Secondary crystals include hematite, geothite, mordenite, and very rarely apatite and galena.
