Material description: Schist is formed by the metamorphic processes of heat and pressure.
These processes change the component grains by flattening them into thin layers (foliation).
Typically, this foliation has a characteristically wavy appearance.
Schist rock has highly variable component grains.
The material offered in this auction is dominated by biotite mica, almandine garnets, kyanite and quartz.
